Certificate Membership
If you are interested in purchasing a certificate from the pool directly, please contact Quintin Ward at qward@nwswimclub.org.
The Club is owned and operated by Certificate holders. Certificate holders:
- have voting rights and responsibilities in the club,
- are guaranteed the ability to use the pool each summer through the payment of annual dues,
- own the monetary value of the certificate for future sale, and
- participate in preseason lesson sign-up lottery.
If you want to be a certificate holder you may purchase one from a current member who is deciding they no longer want to use the pool or purchase one from Northwest Swim Club if they are available that season. Each certificate has a face value of $250, but is sold for whatever price the owner and buyer negotiate. This sale is termed a “Transfer.” The pool sells at face value.
Certificate holders who want to Transfer their Certificate must contact Quintin Ward, qward@nwswimclub.org, for official transfer forms and instructions. It is up to the current member to locate a buyer and sell their certificate prior to May 1 of every year to avoid having to pay dues for that year that summer. See "Transfer Steps" below.
Certificate Membership - Purchase of a membership Certificate guarantees owners annual membership and admittance to club, participation in pre-season swim lesson registration and voting privileges at annual meeting provided yearly dues are paid in-full by May 1 of each year. These members are part owners in the Club. Members with dues remaining unpaid as of May 1 of each year are subject to termination of certificate. | ||
Provisional Membership - Availability is determined by Board of Trustees and is based upon the number of registered Certificate Members. Membership becomes available only after May 5 of each year. Provisional Members do not own a Certificate and are subject to higher annual dues rates and are not eligible to participate in pre-season swim lesson registration. Provisional Membership is not guaranteed annual renewal. |
Members not planning to renew pool membership may elect to sell their Certificate. Each Certificate has a face value of $250. Rates may vary due to market. Members are welcome to list Certificates for sale by going to www.nwswimclub.org.
Certificate Transfers - Completion of official transfer forms and payment of $25 is required once the sale of a Certificate has occurred. Contact: Quintin Ward, Director of Operations at: qward@nwswimclub.org.
Certificate Terminations - This action is taken by the Board of Trustees after May 1 of each year for all Certificate holders with unpaid annual dues.
This process includes:
- Assessment of $25 Penalty Fee
- Attempted contact by a Trustee and/or Pool Staff Member to determine members intent.
- Written notice of Termination sent by Board
Non-payment at the end of this process will result in loss of value to the Certificate. Board then possesses right to issue a new Certificate, in its place, to a new paying member.
